The Vodafone Map of Now
We created a service concept that brings alive urban stories, ideas and insights in cities around the world: the Vodafone Map of Now.
Vodafone asked Spotspot to imagine a future marketing concept that comes alive in a variety of formats: Retail, Online, Mobile and Viral. In the run up to the Vodafone 360 service, the mobile operator was searching for strategic online applications that can bring Vodafone to life for consumers all over the world. Not just on handsets, but across a diverse set of touch points.
We responded with the Map of Now, a live collection for urban moments that can be seeded in key cities around the world: London, Barcelona, Mumbai. The application allows users to populate a map by importing event details and venues, and retrieve information about ongoing and upcoming happenings in their area.
The gathered information can then be used across channels: through mobile browsing, a physical map kiosk at major urban hotspots, or temporary pop-up events.
Crucially, it would inject tangible human stories into an otherwise technical service, bringing alive the meaning of mobile data by Vodafone on a personal level.
It is great to see many of these ideas now becoming a reality, through augmented reality map services by Bing, or Google’s recently launched Buzz service.
